Tracking GHG emissions of US waste management companies

Follow progress on greenhouse gas emissions disclosure, reduction targets, and initiatives from key solid waste and environmental services companies.

The U.S. waste and recycling industry has seen a notable shift in the level of disclosure and aspirations for its sustainability targets in recent years. The focus has only increased amid growing attention on landfill methane’s contribution to climate change. This has been driven in part by investor and customer interest in environmental, social, and governance metrics, as well as federal and state regulatory requirements.

Since 2020, Waste Dive has maintained a tracker of key targets, data, and focus areas among companies that disclose specific greenhouse gas emissions. This current list is centered on solid waste or environmental services companies. It will be updated annually with new entries as future reports are released.
