Hexpol Acquires Majority Stake in Nylon Compounder Piedmont
Piedmont is said to be one of the largest independent nylon compounders in the U.S.
Hexpol Group, said to be the world’s largest rubber compounder, has acquired an 80 percent stake in nylon compounder Piedmont Resin Supply LLC in a deal valued at US$86 million.
Headquartered in Cartersville, Ga., Piedmont was founded in 2013 and has grown to become one of the largest independent nylon compounders in the U.S., with approximately 60 employees. Piedmont services a variety of customers within the automotive, transportation, and furniture industries.
“The acquisition of Piedmont adds new capabilities, application knowhow and a new customer base to Hexpol Thermoplastic Compounding in the U.S.,” Jan Wikström, the president of Hexpol Thermoplastic Compounding, said in an Oct. 31 news release.
Hexpol is headquartered in Malmo, Sweden, and is organized into two business areas: Hexpol Compounding and Hexpol Engineered Products.
