Granuband aims to explore Latin American tire recycling market

InvestChile is the Chilean government agency responsible for promoting Chile in the global market as a destination for foreign direct investment, serving as a bridge between the interests of overseas investors and the business opportunities the country offers, providing world-class services that are in line with Chile’s economic development policies.

In December 2021, the Agency reported that as a part of its “European Roadshow”, InvestChile’s Managing Director Andrés Rodríguez Rowe, together with the head of the Investment Promotion Division, Salvatore Di Giovanni Vergara, met in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with Maarten Van Randeraat, the owner of Granuband – an established tire recycling company operating in the EU and US.

As one of European market leaders in tire recycling, Granuband collects and recycles nearly one million tires every year throughout the Netherlands. In this way, local authorities and car firms clear out their end-of-life tire stockpiles and dump sites and let Granuband recycled tire rubber in a responsible manner.

At present, the company processes 50,000 tons of end-of-life tire rubber per year: 30,000 tons in Europe and 20,000 tons in the U.S. InvestChile says in its social media channels that the company has not began operations in Latin America yet, but it’s interested in exploring the business opportunities that Chile offers.

The “European Roadshow” agenda of InvestChile also includes meetings with other companies in France, Germany, Spain and Italy, the Agency says.
