Smuggled items are found in end-of-life tires shipment by Pakistani customs


A recent effort to smuggle illegal goods was prevented by Pakistan’s Collectorate of Customs Appraisement (West), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Karachi. They claimed that the cargo of illegal goods had a value of Rs 453 million.

A shipment that M/s. Riz Green Industries imported from the UAE was declared to contain end-of-life tires, the FBR reported. Karachi International Container Terminal set aside the shipment for thorough inspection. Various items, such as fake jewelry, fabric for furniture, computers, tablets, mobile phones, car parts, food supplements, cereals, cosmetics, and home electronics, among others, were found after an examination.

The assessed value of the confiscated products is anticipated to be Rs 453 million, including Rs 400 million (£1.58M) in duty and taxes. According to the statement, a FIR has been filed in this regard, and one person has been placed under arrest.
