Klean Industries Nominated for Best Waste Management Technology Company Award

Vancouver, Canada – Klean Industries a leading waste to energy solutions provider who builds, owns, and operates tire pyrolysis, plastics to oil, and municipal solid waste plants, has been nominated for the Global Cleantech Cluster Association 2012, Best in Waste Management Class Later Stage Award. The awards recognize innovative mid to later-stage cleantech companies around the world who actively support the business clusters and incubators in their regions. Klean Industries was nominated for the 2012 Later Stage Awards by GCCA Member Cluster GreenTech Exchange for providing a sustainable solution that converts waste tires, plastics, and municipal solid waste streams back into valuable commodities, reducing the damaging impact on the atmosphere and eradicating the global problem of landfill. Winning companies will be announced at the Savannah International Clean Energy Conference on November 13, 2012, in Savannah, Georgia, USA.

“We are thrilled to have been nominated and to have made it through to the Later stages of this prestigious international award,” said Jesse Klinkhamer CEO of Klean Industries. “We hope to eradicate the millions of tonnes of waste tires and plastics in existing landfills, polluting the planet and causing environmental destruction. Fossil fuel reserves are fast declining causing unacceptable oil and energy price increases. Klean’s technologies convert these waste products back into high-value, reusable commodities. Hiding something in the ground doesn’t make it go away. We view all rubbish as a precious resource, and all oil-based waste for what it is - oil”.

The nomination of Klean Industries to the GCCA Later Stage Awards spotlights Klean Industries’ technology which provides a comprehensive solution to the disposition of waste plastics and tires, converting them back into oil, carbon black, and steel. Klean Industries’ tire and plastics technologies are commercially proven and provide an innovative approach to energy efficiency and sustainability, dramatically reducing Co2 output, and utilizing the guaranteed supply of waste tires and plastics.

“The annual Later Stage Awards has become the international showcase of cleantech’s rising stars,” said Shawn Lesser of Watershed Capital Group and Co-Founder of the GCCA. “All the nominees are developing innovative clean technologies and growing their local green economies and we are thrilled to support them through our award.”

Three categories new to this year’s awards are BioEnergy, Smart Grid/Sustainable IT, and Tidal/Hydropower. Over the next 5 months, the nominations will be evaluated based on the merits of technology innovation and business acumen by over 30 venture capital and cleantech judges hand-selected for the Later Stage Awards. Combined, the GCCA judges have invested over $3.5 billion in clean technology.
