All-Canadian Cleantech Index opens on Toronto Stock Exchange
class=”Apple-style-span”>CEOs representing the companies selected
for the Corporate Knights’ Cleantech 10(tm) and Next 10 Cleantech
lists, joined Eleanor Fritz, Director, Compliance and Disclosure,
Toronto Stock Exchange to open the market today.
Founded in 2002, Corporate
Knights is an independent Canadian-based media company with an
explicit focus on corporate responsibility.
The Cleantech 10 and Next 10
represent Canada’s best publicly and privately held companies in
the Cleantech realm, as judged by Corporate Knights panel of
experts, and span a range of sectors from desalination to water
power to solar technology.
Corporate Knights, the company for clean capitalism, has
unveilled the preeminent list of Canadian public and private
cleantech companies, the Cleantech 10(tm) and Next 10.
Corporate Knights has been following cleantech companies since
2007, and highlighting the companies poised to make it big. The
CEOs of the Cleantech 10(tm) and Next 10 opened on the Toronto
Stock Exchange.
Also announced today via a Corporate Knights magazine, which
is
distributed as a quarterly insert in the Globe and Mail and
Washington Post, was news that Corporate Knights has closed
an investment round with a prestigious group of investors led by
Vancity Community Capital.
This private investment will allow Corporate Knights Inc. to
launch a new division, Corporate Knights Capital, which will
leverage Corporate Knights rankings to create a global suite of
clean capitalism- themed passive investment products tailored to
meet large investor needs.
The Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange host over
130 clean technology companies with a combined quoted market value
of $16,754,255,148 as of September 30, 2011.
The Corporate Knights Cleantech 10(tm) was compiled by Corporate
Knights Inc. and Cleantech Group LLC, the leading provider of
Cleantech indices and information globally.
The Cleantech 10(tm) list was created by Rafael Coven, Managing
Director and Index Manager of The Cleantech Index (CTIUS;
cleantechindex.com), which underlies several Index-based funds such
as the PowerShares Cleantech ETF (NYSE:PZD), and is the first and
only index to cover cleantech companies across a broad array of
industries.
The Next 10 were selected by an advisory panel of Canada’s
foremost authorities on cleantech, using four judging criteria:
creativity and original approach, solving a business problem, clear
business objective, and best chance of breaking through.
