Klean Industries CEO - Nominated for Bavaria Award by Ceres
Klean Industries is pleased to announce the nomination of Klean Industries CEO Mr. Klinkhamer for the inaugural Joan Bavaria Awards for Building Sustainability into the Capital Markets.
The awards celebrate Bavaria’s distinguished career and legacy in integrating social and environmental factors in decision-making by the capital markets. A champion of social investing and a leader in the sustainability movement, Bavaria founded the Social Investment Forum in 1981, Trillium Asset Management in 1982, and Ceres in 1989.
Two awards will be given each year. The Impact Award will go to an investor, company, or nonprofit group that has contributed a specific achievement resulting in lasting movement of the capital markets from a system focused on short-term profits toward one that balances financial prosperity with social and environmental health. The Innovation Award will go to an investor, company, or nonprofit group whose recent work has the distinct potential to be a catalyst for long-term change of the same kind.
The five judges who will select this year’s winners include experienced individuals in the forefront of the sustainability movement. The panel includes: Ray Anderson, chairman and founder of Interface, Inc., the world’s top manufacturer of modular carpets and a leader in corporate sustainability; Denis Hayes, president of the Bullitt Foundation and organizer of the first Earth Day; Mindy S. Lubber, president of Ceres and director of the Investor Network on Climate Risk; Cheryl Smith, executive vice president of Trillium; and Ken Sylvester, assistant controller for pension policy of the New York City Controller’s Office which oversees $70 billion in retirement fund assets.
