RGH Systems & Klean Target Plastic-to-Fuel Project in the Philippines
RGH Systems and Klean Industries are partnering to deliver a groundbreaking plastic-to-fuel project in the Philippines. The project will use advanced pyrolysis technologies to transform plastic waste into low-cost, low-carbon fuels for industrial and energy markets.
The era of single-use plastic waste not being recycled is ending in the Philippines.
MAKATI CITY, PHILIPPINES—REI Global Inc. (“REI”) and Greenergie Corporation (“Greenergie”) are pleased to announce they have entered into a joint venture agreement forming RGH System Inc. (“RGH”) to build, construct, and operate an advanced 30 tonnes per day Plastic-to-Diesel resource facility in Bulacan, Philippines. The facility is expected to break ground in January 2023.
RGH aims to transform mountains of waste plastics, diverting plastics from landfills and oceans by converting plastic into synthetic diesel fuel, which can be used in diesel engines, trucks, buses, trains, boats, heavy equipment, boilers, and generators. Its low carbon intensity regarding a recovered resource provided a game-changing opportunity for the Philippines to repurpose single-use plastics, creating economic development while preventing oil-based waste from littering our environment. The RGH facility will be best-in-class, applying advanced operating efficiencies and high-performance plastic sorting machinery within the Bulacan facility. The project’s contracts are now in place, successfully satisfying the Philippines National Standard requirements and the Department of Environment and National Resources climate goals.
“RGH Systems is building a 13,000 sq meter resource recovery facility on 20,000 sq meters of land provided by Greenergie. RGH has strategically selected Klean Industries Inc (“Klean”), a global leader in advanced thermal recycling technologies, to develop Bulacan’s most advanced full-scale resource recovery facility. RGH Systems is committed to global sustainability and participation within the circular economy with plans to scale the plastic processing volumes to over 100 metric tonnes per day by 2024. Once this facility is operational, it will run 24/7 for 330 days per year with an output of approximately nine million liters of diesel fuel”, commented Rene Ferrer, President of REI Global.
“We are pleased to partner with REI Global and look forward to beginning construction in a few months. Once our facility is built, it will be one of the most modern facilities in the Philippines. I am excited about all we have accomplished so far, and I look forward to helping end plastic waste in the Philippines. What’s important to me and future generations is that plastic waste is 100% recycled by converting it into valuable resources at our facility, where it will no longer end up in landfills, the oceans, or our beaches here. Furthermore, the plant will create much-needed cleantech jobs and provide the Philippines with green diesel for use within the country. I am very proud of what our plant will do for the country”, says Elpidio Castillo, owner of Greenergie.
Klean Industries of Vancouver, Canada provides the technology for this state-of-the-art facility.
