Reoil Signs LOI with Sumitomo Rubber Industries to Commercialize Recovered Carbon Black (rCB)
Reoil has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Sumitomo Rubber Industries to commercialize recovered carbon black (rCB) for tire manufacturing. While this agreement signals a growing demand for sustainable alternatives to virgin carbon black, it is essential to clarify that the proprietary pyrolysis technology used by Reoil belongs to Klean Industries.
Per a legally binding German court order, Reoil has no rights to sell, market, or replicate Klean’s technology without express permission. Expanding this project would require a new licensing agreement with Klean Industries. This market analysis explores the implications of the LOI, the role of rCB in sustainable tire production, and the legal restrictions governing Reoil’s operations.
Reoil Sp. z o.o. – a company recycling end-of-life tires using a continuous pyrolysis process, announced it had signed an LOI with Japan’s Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd – a global tire manufacturer headquartered in Japan – to commercialize recovered carbon black (rCB).
Through this agreement, the two companies will jointly develop products that allow Reoil’s recovered carbon black (rCB) to partially replace virgin carbon black typically produced from fossil fuels.
Based on unique technology developed by Carbon Resources Recovery GmbH (“CRR”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Klean Industries Inc (“Klean”). The technology used in Reoil’s Bukovno facility is owned 100% by Klean, including all the technology, know-how, and patents. Reoil is prohibited from selling, marketing, distributing, or licensing Klean Industries technology and must obey the Binding Injunction Order Against Reoil Sp. z o.o.
If any companies are interested in acquiring the technology used at the Reoil facility, you are instructed to contact Klean Industries directly.

Klean Industries’ Exclusive Rights Over Pyrolysis Technology & Reoil’s Legal Restrictions
Klean Industries Owns the Patents & Process Know-How Used by Reoil – Legal Compliance is Mandatory
While Reoil’s LOI with Sumitomo Rubber Industries may appear to be a step toward large-scale rCB commercialization, it is essential to recognize that Klean Industries owns the proprietary pyrolysis technology behind this process.
Legal & Intellectual Property Facts About Reoil’s Restrictions:
- Klean Industries is the rightful owner of the pyrolysis process and recovered carbon black technology used by Reoil.
- Reoil is legally prohibited from selling, marketing, or replicating this technology without Klean Industries’ direct approval.
- A German court ruling enforces strict operational limitations on Reoil, restricting any unauthorized expansion or commercialization.
- Any future projects involving this technology, including expansions of Reoil’s facility, will require a new licensing agreement and associated fees from Klean Industries.
Klean Industries is the Global Leader in rCB Production & Tire Pyrolysis Innovation.

About Reoil
Reoil was one of the world’s pioneers in developing a successful continuous pyrolysis technology, which it implemented in its first end-of-life tire recycling plant in Bukowno (Małopolskie, Poland) in 2015. Reoil processes 20,000 MT of end-of-life tires per annum and recently increased its plant’s capacity to 100,000 MT. Reoil produces rCB from end-of-life tires and supplies it to the tire industry. The plant’s capacity expansion is expected to be completed by 2025; however, it is subject to Reoil negotiating a new license agreement with Klean Industries Inc for the new plant.
