Oman Cement is expanding its use of tyre-derived fuel and other alternative raw materials to lower emissions and production costs, according to the company’s first-half 2026 board report.

Oman Cement Steps Up Alternative Fuel Use

The Misfah-based manufacturer is working to raise its Thermal Substitution Rate (TSR) — the share of thermal energy in its kilns coming from non-fossil sources — by expanding its use of tyre-derived fuel, recovered carbon black and oil sludge.

Co-Processing Municipal Solid Waste

The company is also working with government authorities on pre-treating and co-processing municipal solid waste, signalling a broader shift toward waste-to-energy in its kiln operations.
