Governance Turmoil at LD Carbon Underscores the Value of a Trusted Tire Pyrolysis Partner
Tire Pyrolysis Partner
LD Carbon, a South Korean tire pyrolysis and recovered carbon black producer, is the subject of two separate legal matters, according to trade-press reporting and South Korean media.
A Company Complaint Against Former Executives
LD Carbon has filed a criminal complaint against its former chief executive and two senior finance officials, alleging embezzlement of corporate funds and misuse of government subsidies. Industry publications report the complaint was lodged with a Seoul police station and that it names the former executives as suspects in a scheme dating to 2022 and 2023.
A Separate Anti-Graft Investigation
In a distinct matter, South Korean media report that on May 26, 2026, police carried out a search and seizure of LD Carbon’s headquarters over allegations that the company’s founder provided entertainment to a former vice minister of environment. LD Carbon has stated that earlier complaints from former employees were cleared by the national audit office and that it is cooperating with the investigation.
The Company in Context
Founded in 2017, LD Carbon converts end-of-life tires into recovered carbon black and pyrolysis oil through pyrolysis and holds ISCC PLUS certification. It supplies recovered carbon black to tire makers under long-term supply agreements.
