Chinese Pyrolysis Suppliers Establish a Foothold in Vietnam's Tire Market
Vietnam Tire Pyrolysis
Vietnam’s fast-growing vehicle fleet is producing a rising mountain of waste tires, and Chinese pyrolysis suppliers are moving in to claim it, signalling a market that is real but still short on proven continuous capacity.
Vietnam generates an estimated 40 million waste tires a year, with well under a fifth processed through environmentally sound methods and the rest dumped or burned. That feedstock gap is drawing Chinese equipment makers such as Niutech, which commissioned a continuous waste plastic pyrolysis plant in the country in December 2025, alongside a steady flow of tire pyrolysis lines shipped to Vietnamese operators.
From Oil to Marine Fuel
The downstream is opening too. In January 2026 Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical ran its first trial sale of marine fuel blended with tire and plastic pyrolysis oil at Dung Quat, with the delivery going to a Petrovietnam Transportation vessel. Pyrolysis oil is moving from an informal fuel into a refinery-recognised blend stock.
That matters because it gives Vietnamese pyrolysis operators a real offtake, and it raises the bar on the oil quality a buyer will actually accept. Batch reactors that make inconsistent oil will struggle to clear it.
The Capacity Question
Rising feedstock, Chinese batch equipment and a new refinery offtake add up to a market with demand and supply but a credibility gap in between. The operators who win will be the ones running continuous, specification-grade plants rather than the lowest-cost batch machinery.
Take Vietnam’s Tire Feedstock to Continuous Capacity
Klean Industries delivers continuous tire pyrolysis facilities on a performance-guaranteed turnkey basis with KBR, producing specification-grade pyrolysis oil, recovered carbon black and steel from the same end-of-life tires now flowing through batch systems.
We already work in the market. Klean’s collaboration with BMT Construction Group in Vietnam completed a feasibility study for using tire pyrolysis oil and crumb rubber in asphalt, connecting recovered tire products to real industrial users.
License the technology and operate it yourself, or have KBR build it turnkey and hand over a proven plant. Start with a feasibility study on the Vietnamese feedstock and offtake you can actually secure.
