Global Retread Tire Market to Reach $18.5 Billion by 2035

A new study projects the global retread tire market will grow from $10.8 billion in 2025 to $18.5 billion by 2035 on fleet cost pressure and sustainability.

Tire Retreading

The global retread tire market is projected to grow from $10.8 billion in 2025 to $18.5 billion by 2035, according to a market intelligence study published by Radial Insights. The forecast points to a compound annual growth rate of 5.58% over the period, with demand driven mainly by commercial fleets seeking lower tire costs, longer casing life and improved cost per mile.

Retread tires are presented as an important circular economy solution because they extend the useful life of tire casings and reduce the need for repeated new tire purchases. The study says retreads typically cost 30% to 50% less than comparable new tires, making them attractive for trucking, logistics, mining, construction, public transport and aviation operators.

Fleet cost pressure drives demand

Radial Insights identifies fleet total cost of ownership as the main growth driver. Retreading allows fleets to reuse premium casings by applying new tread after the original tread has worn down, helping operators extract more value from each casing and reduce replacement costs across multiple tire life cycles. Truck and bus radial retreads represent the largest demand category.

Retreading sits high in the waste hierarchy

Retreading preserves more of the original tire value than material recycling or energy recovery. When casings remain suitable for reuse, retreading can delay final recycling and reduce the number of new tires required by fleets, complementing downstream end-of-life tire solutions such as crumb rubber, rubberized asphalt, recovered carbon black and tire-derived fuel.
