Klean Nominated for Best Waste Management Technology Company Award
Klean Industries has been nominated for the prestigious Best Waste Management Technology Company Award, recognizing its global leadership in pyrolysis systems, recycling innovation, and scalable circular economy infrastructure.
Vancouver, Canada – Klean Industries is pleased to announce that it has been nominated for the Global Cleantech Cluster Association Awards for the Best in Waste Management Class Later Stage Award for the second year in a row. Klean Industries is an industry-leading waste-to-energy solutions provider that develops, builds, owns, and operates tire pyrolysis, plastics to oil, and municipal solid waste recycling plants.
The awards recognize innovative mid- to later-stage cleantech companies worldwide that actively support their regions’ business clusters and incubators. Klean Industries was nominated for the 2013 Later Stage Awards by GCCA Member Cluster GreenTech Exchange for providing a sustainable solution that converts waste tires, plastics, and municipal solid waste streams back into valuable commodities, reducing the damaging impact on the atmosphere and eradicating the global problem of landfills. Winning companies will be announced at the International Clean Energy Conference on November 19-20, 2013, in Lahti, Finland.
“We are thrilled to be once again recognized and to have been nominated to the later stages of this prestigious international award,” said Jesse Klinkhamer, CEO of Klean Industries. “We hope to eradicate the millions of tonnes of waste tires and plastics in existing landfills, which continue to pollute the planet and cause environmental destruction. Fossil fuel reserves quickly decline, causing unacceptable oil and energy price increases. Klean’s technologies convert these waste products into high-value, reusable commodities and energy. Hiding something in the ground doesn’t make it go away. We view all rubbish as a precious resource and all oil-based waste for what it is - oil”.
The nomination of Klean Industries to the GCCA Later Stage Awards spotlights Klean Industries’ technology, which provides a comprehensive solution to the disposition of waste plastics and tires, converting them back into oil, carbon black, and steel. Klean Industries’ tire and plastics technologies are commercially proven and provide an innovative approach to energy efficiency and sustainability, dramatically reducing Co2 output and utilizing the guaranteed supply of waste tires and plastics.
“The annual Later Stage Awards has become the international showcase of cleantech’s rising stars,” said Shawn Lesser of Watershed Capital Group and Co-Founder of the GCCA. “All the nominees are developing innovative clean technologies and growing their local green economies, and we are thrilled to support them with our award.”
Three new categories to this year’s awards are BioEnergy, Smart Grid/Sustainable IT, and Tidal/Hydropower. Over the next five months, over 30 venture capital and cleantech judges hand-selected for the Later Stage Awards will evaluate the nominations based on the merits of technology innovation and business acumen. The GCCA judges have invested over $3.5 billion in clean technology.
