Diverting Waste from Landfill

When organic material decomposes in a landfill without oxygen, it releases methane — a potent greenhouse gas. Every tonne of tires, plastics, and organic waste that instead enters a pyrolysis facility avoids that anaerobic decomposition pathway. The material is converted into recoverable products rather than left to emit over decades.

Recovering Energy Instead of Burning Material Value

Pyrolysis produces a combustible syngas and a liquid oil that can displace fossil-derived energy. Because the process recovers energy from material that would otherwise be wasted, it offsets the emissions that would come from producing equivalent energy from primary fossil sources. Every unit of recovered carbon black that displaces virgin production avoids the emissions tied to manufacturing new material.

Closing the Loop Lowers Lifecycle Emissions

Emission reductions from pyrolysis are best understood across the whole lifecycle. Diverting material from landfill avoids methane, recovering oil and gas avoids fossil energy, and recovering carbon black avoids virgin production. Taken together, these avoid emissions at multiple points rather than at one.
