NE-TECH Begins Hot Commissioning at Karcag Tyre Pyrolysis Plant
Tire Pyrolysis
A new end-of-life tire pyrolysis plant in Hungary has reached the stage where operators matter as much as engineers, as NE-TECH Group moves from cold verification into live production testing.
NE-TECH announced on 31 October 2026 that it has completed cold commissioning across the entire Karcag end-of-life tire facility and moved into hot commissioning, working alongside technical and chemical experts from MOL Group, the Hungarian energy company.
First Product Already Flowing
The test runs have already produced tire pyrolysis oil, alongside the start of recovered carbon black production. NE-TECH commissioned the rCB line together with Hosokawa Alpine and has successfully micronized recovered carbon black, while staged commissioning of the reactor lines continues ahead of regular plant operation.
The Karcag facility is one of the more closely watched European tire pyrolysis projects, because it pairs a dedicated pyrolysis plant with a major energy and chemicals partner in MOL. That structure signals tire pyrolysis has moved from demonstration into the kind of industrial setting where offtake and product specification drive the project.
Why Commissioning Is the Harder Half
Getting a pyrolysis plant to first oil is one milestone. Reaching stable, continuous operation with consistent recovered carbon black and pyrolysis oil is the milestone that separates a project from a plant. The Karcag timeline, with its rCB line already micronizing product, shows the full downstream closed loop being brought online in stages.
Take Tire Pyrolysis from First Oil to Continuous Output
First oil is where many projects stall; continuous output is where they become bankable. Klean Industries delivers tire pyrolysis facilities with KBR on a performance-guaranteed turnkey basis, which means throughput, product specification and availability are contractual numbers rather than startup targets.
Our references include commercial-scale thermal conversion facilities operating today, among them the commercial recovered carbon black plant in Poland. That is where guarantees on continuous running and consistent product quality are earned.
Two routes are open. License the technology and operate the plant yourself with our engineering and commissioning support, or have KBR deliver it turnkey and hand over a proven facility. Start with a feasibility study that tests your feedstock and downstream offtake before any steel is ordered.
