ARENA FMA Innovation Fund: Low Carbon Liquid Fuels (LCLF) Priority – $250M Grants (Australia)

ARENA has allocated up to $250 million to the Future Made in Australia (FMA) Innovation Fund to support pre-commercial innovation, demonstration and deployment of renewable energy and low emission technologies across the Priority of Low Carbon Liquid Fuels (LCLF).

Background

ARENA will provide up to $250 million in grant funding towards of Low Carbon Liquid Fuels (LCLF) through the Future Made in Australia (FMA) Innovation Fund.

The Program aims to fund innovative projects specific to the LCLF Priority that benefit Australia’s transition to net zero through the acceleration of commercial scale domestic production, pre-commercial technology demonstration and feedstock and supply chain enablement.

Projects funded under this Priority will contribute to one or more of the following outcomes

  • Facilitate a pathway to the technical and commercial viability of domestic LCLF production.
  • Support the commercialisation of novel and emerging LCLF production pathways.
  • Enable an integrated supply chain for LCLF production.
  • Domestic feedstock enablement for LCLF supply.

ARENA may consider other technologies (unless listed as out of scope) on a case-by-case basis, please contact us to discuss.

How it works

The application process involves up to two application stages, and you may submit an application at any time while the Program is open. Applications will be assessed under one of two Program streams,

  • Innovation: intended for early-stage technology development including but not limited to prototyping, pilots, pre-commercial demonstrations, small-scale deployment and studies including feasibility and Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) or engineering studies.
  • Deployment: intended for technology scale-up activities including but not limited to large scale deployment, and activities where the outcomes may have been demonstrated or proven in a small-scale environment but may not have been sufficiently tested at a large scale under conditions critical to enable commercialisation.
