Emvolon and Freepoint Commodities Execute Multi-Year Definitive Agreements to Scale High-Value Liquid Fuels
Waste-to-Liquid Fuels
Emvolon, Inc., an MIT-spinout commercializing technology that converts methane-rich waste gases into high-value liquid fuels, and Freepoint Commodities LLC, a global physical commodity merchant, have announced the execution of two definitive commercial agreements. The transaction establishes Freepoint as both the anchor off-taker and a cornerstone project capital partner across Emvolon’s global deployment pipeline.
Under a seven-year Commodity Purchase Framework Agreement, Freepoint will serve as the primary buyer for biomethanol and associated liquid fuels produced across Emvolon’s deployment sites, with production volumes structured to scale toward 300,000 metric tons annually. A concurrent financial agreement grants Freepoint direct co-investment participation rights to deploy equity and debt capital across Emvolon’s project portfolio and clean energy infrastructure, bridging the gap between technology deployment and long-term project debt financing.
Rather than operating as a passive technology licensor, Emvolon delivers a turnkey Liquid Fuels-as-a-Service platform that aligns site and feedstock development, modular micro-reactors that repurpose mass-produced automotive engines to convert waste gas on-site, and offtake, logistics, and capital. With methanol representing a $40 billion annual market and RED-II-compliant biomethanol trading at a premium exceeding $1,000 per metric ton, the partners aim to replicate this plug-and-play template across landfill, dairy, and industrial gas sites in North America and key international regions.
