China’s tire pyrolysis industry is scaling up, with Niutech Environment Technology Corp. planning a major capacity expansion driven by strong demand for pyrolysis oil and recovered carbon black.
Niutech Adds 100ktpa of Continuous Processing
In a 25 March stock exchange filing, Niutech said its subsidiary Shandong Hesheng Environmental will invest about RMB220 million (€27 million) to build a 100 kilotonnes per annum tire pyrolysis project at its existing site in Jinan, Shandong province.
The move raises total processing capacity at the site from 60ktpa to 160ktpa, using large-scale continuous industrial tire pyrolysis production lines, with a planned construction period of no more than 12 months.
Demand for Pyrolysis Oil and rCB Is the Driver
Niutech attributed the expansion to strong market demand, noting that demand for pyrolysis oil and recovered carbon black is "huge" and that the supply-demand gap continues to widen. The company said the upgrade is "imperative" as existing capacity cannot meet rapidly growing market demand.
