Boiler for Dryer Applications: Supplying the Heat That Dries
Boiler Dryer Applications
Drying is one of the most common process duties in industry, and it is hungry for heat. A boiler paired with a dryer supplies that heat as steam or hot water, drying sludge, biomass, food or minerals, and often doing it with a fuel the site already owns, such as its own wood waste or recovered energy.
How the Boiler Serves the Dryer
The boiler raises steam or heats water, which is piped to the dryer’s heat exchanger, where it evaporates moisture from the material. The pairing is direct and continuous, and because the boiler and dryer are sized together, the heat delivered matches exactly what the drying duty needs, avoiding waste at either end.
Why Dryer and Boiler Are Sized Together
A dryer’s heat demand sets the boiler’s size, and mismatching them means either running a boiler too large for the drying load or starving the dryer of heat. At sites with a waste or biomass fuel supply, the boiler can burn that fuel on-site, coupling drying to energy recovery so the facility dries material with heat it was already generating.
