Waste Oil Distillation

Waste oil distillation converts used and discarded oils into a diesel-range fuel by heating them and separating out the lighter fractions. It has become a practical answer to two problems at once: a mounting waste stream and a steady demand for liquid fuel.

The Feedstock Question

The process works on more than just motor oil. Used motor oil, hydraulic and transmission fluids, industrial lubricants, and even used cooking oil can be suitable feedstocks, though each carries its own level of water, solids, and contaminants. How the Distillation Works

The prepared oil is heated so that its lighter components vaporise and are drawn off and condensed, separating a fuel cut from the heavier residue. Temperature control governs both how much product comes over and how heavy it is, much as in conventional refining but aimed at a waste-derived stream. The plant itself is built around heating, vapour separation, condensation, and residue handling, with the fuel output confirmed against standard tests.

Yields and Expectations

Yield is a function of feedstock and operating conditions rather than a fixed promise, and the residue left behind still needs a destination, whether reprocessing or sale. What the technology reliably delivers is a way to shrink a hazardous waste stream while producing a renewable fuel, which is why it has moved from experimental treatment to a commercial option for operators with a reliable supply of used oil.
