Sagepoint Doubles Its Renewable Natural Gas Truck Fleet

RNG Truck Fleet

Sagepoint Logistics, the Carmel, Indiana-based sustainable freight carrier, has doubled its low-carbon fleet to 120 vehicles with the addition of new renewable natural gas trucks.

Fleet Expansion

The carrier added 60 heavy-duty Class 8 trucks powered by renewable natural gas using the Cummins X15N engine, doubling its RNG truck fleet to 120 vehicles. The move expands its dedicated truckload platform in response to growing shipper demand for sustainable and cost-predictable transport, and reinforces its position as a leading RNG-powered dedicated carrier serving the Midwest.

A Vertically Integrated Fuel Supply

Every truck in the fleet is powered entirely by renewable natural gas sourced directly from Sagepoint Energy’s own production facilities. Because the fuel is 100 percent domestic, the company says it can reduce exposure to global oil market volatility and offer customers greater cost predictability across the life of a freight contract. The expansion follows senior secured financing the carrier closed specifically to fund the fleet and its related fueling infrastructure.

The Cummins X15N Engine

The Cummins X15N is a 15-litre natural gas engine purpose-built for heavy-duty, long-haul applications, the industry’s first 15-litre natural gas engine of its kind for this class of work. It is designed to deliver the torque and reliability required for demanding operations while providing a practical route to lowering emissions and operating costs across freight haulage, removing a historic barrier to adopting gas-powered trucks in long-haul service.

A Domestic, Cost-Predictable Freight Pathway

Running trucks on renewable natural gas cuts the carbon intensity of freight relative to conventional diesel without switching vehicle technology or fuel infrastructure. For Sagepoint, the enlarged RNG truck fleet extends its role across the renewable gas value chain, from producing fuel at its own facilities through to end use in transport, giving shippers a lower-carbon option with more stable pricing.

Renewable Natural Gas From Waste

Fleets that burn renewable natural gas still need a dependable supply of it. Klean produces renewable natural gas and biomethane from solid waste through gasification and energy-from-waste systems, including its Bioenergie Schuby plant in Germany, feeding the same low-carbon fuel markets Sagepoint serves.
