Motor Oil Recycling Machines: How the Recovery Process Works
Motor Oil Recycling Machine
A motor oil recycling machine is not a single device but a sequence of equipment that moves used oil from collection through to a renewed product. Understanding the stages explains what a facility is actually buying when it invests in recovery capacity, and where the operating cost really sits.
Collection and Transport
The process begins before any machine runs. Used oil is gathered from workshops, dealerships, farms, and industrial sites into drums, barrels, or sealed containers, clearly labelled and stored cool and dry away from heat and sunlight. It is then moved to the facility in closed containers, following transport regulations, so that none of the collected volume is lost to a leak or spill en route.
Filtration and Separation
At the plant the oil is first filtered, commonly by centrifuging it at high speed so that water, dirt, and metal shavings are thrown out of the oil stream. The cleaned oil is then separated into its components. Centrifugation, distillation, solvent extraction, and hydrotreating are the available routes, each suited to a different fraction and purity target: base oil, additives, and residual water.
Reprocessing Into Product
The recovered base oil is reprocessed into new material. Distillation heats the oil to drive off unwanted fractions; solvent extraction dissolves out impurities and leaves a purer fraction behind; and hydrotreatment reacts hydrogen over a catalyst to remove contaminants and produce a clean, stable base oil that can be blended with fresh additives into finished lubricants or routed to fuel production. What remains, the removed water and spent additive fraction, is then disposed of in a way that does not return contaminants to the environment.

Build the Right Recovery Line
The difference between a machine that filters and a plant that re-refines is the separation and reprocessing stage, and that choice sets both product quality and operating cost.
Klean Industries provides feasibility studies, engineering, and turn-key delivery for waste-to-value facilities that turn collected motor oil into recovered base oil and fuel.
