Klean Industries Advances Global TyreNova Deployment Through KBR Alliance and Strategic Projects

Tire pyrolysis technology licensing is central to Klean Industries Inc.’s (“Klean”) accelerated global growth strategy. Through its exclusive alliance with KBR Inc. (NYSE: KBR), Klean is advancing worldwide deployment of TyreNova℠, complemented by strategic joint ventures and flagship project development.

Klean Industries Inc. (“Klean”), a global leader in advanced tire recycling technologies, today announced an accelerated growth strategy centred on worldwide technology licensing through its exclusive alliance with KBR Inc. (NYSE: KBR), complemented by strategic joint ventures and flagship project development.

Under the alliance, KBR leads global sales, marketing, engineering, and project delivery for Klean’s TyreNova℠ tire pyrolysis technology, while Klean provides technology innovation, technical leadership, operational expertise, operator training, and project development. The commercially proven technology, acquired from Carbon Resources Recovery GmbH (CRR) in 2019, provides the foundation for deploying integrated tire recycling facilities worldwide.

“Our operating experience built the foundation. Our alliance with KBR gives us the platform to scale,” said Jesse Klinkhamer, CEO of Klean Industries. “We are directing capital and expertise toward opportunities that accelerate deployment, establish long-term product markets, and create lasting value. Global licensing, strategic joint ventures, and flagship developments such as our Australian project with Viva Energy are complementary parts of that strategy.”

Australia is a flagship example of this approach. Klean continues to advance its development initiative with Viva Energy, evaluating a tire recycling facility capable of processing up to 80,000 tonnes of end-of-life tires annually, with the resulting tire pyrolysis oil intended for co-processing at Viva Energy’s Geelong refinery. The initiative connects tire recycling with established refining infrastructure and downstream product markets, demonstrating how global licensing and direct project leadership work together to support commercial deployment.

The KBR alliance also strengthens Klean’s ability to pursue its long-term ambition of deploying 15 or more facilities across North America while expanding its international project pipeline. This model allows Klean to support a broader network of licensees and concentrate its own development resources on strategically significant projects.

This approach follows Klean’s 2025 divestiture of its Boardman, Oregon site, acquired in 2018 for its substantial regional scrap-tire resources and existing permits. Development work at Boardman advanced Klean’s feedstock and permitting strategy and helped secure offtake contracts covering volumes beyond the facility’s planned production. COVID-related delays, regional feedstock consolidation, and rising logistics costs subsequently reinforced the commercial rationale for directing capital toward licensing, joint ventures, and strategic project development.

Together, these activities position Klean to expand technology deployment while maintaining its role in the operational and commercial foundations of successful projects: integrated processes, trained operators, consistent product quality, and reliable end markets.
