Klean Industries Nominated for the 2010 Global Cleantech 100 Company Award

Vancouver, Canada – Klean today announced that it was nominated for the 2010 Global Cleantech 100 Company by the Cleantech Group in collaboration with the Guardian News and Media, and sponsored by Autodesk.

The prestigious Global Cleantech 100 highlights the most promising private clean technology companies from all around the world. In the eyes of the world’s cleantech experts, these companies are the most likely to make the most significant market impact over the next five to 10 years. In all, 4,616 nominations were received from 3,260 unique sources, generating a long list of 3,138 companies drawn from 50 countries. Two hundred and eighteen companies were presented to the expert panel for final input, resulting in a final list of 100 companies from 14 countries.

The final list of 100 private companies was selected based on the company’s excellence, uniqueness, and reach of their solution, their market dynamics, and size, as well as their ability to execute. Klean’s unique proven pyrolysis, gasification, and liquefaction technologies, which convert scrap tires and municipal waste plastics into advanced fuels and chemicals, helped Klean obtain a spot on the nominations list.

“As a Company committed to resource recovery, renewable energy, and recycling Klean offers a unique set of solutions that address our planet’s crisis of climate change, resources depletion, and security of our energy supply. We are honored to be nominated along with many other great companies in this emerging technology space,” said Jesse Klinkhamer, Chief Executive Officer of Klean Industries Inc. “By converting oil-based wastes such as tires and plastics back into high-grade petroleum products these applications will have a tremendous impact on the industry around the globe.”

“The second Global Cleantech 100 shines a spotlight on which companies and which technology areas the global innovation community is currently most excited about, from a commercial standpoint,” said Richard Youngman, MD, Europe & VP, Global Research at Cleantech Group. “The Global Cleantech 100 list represents the most rigorous, serious attempt made yet to provide a scorecard of the progress that is being made by cleantech companies.”

The Global Cleantech 100 list was revealed at the Cleantech Forum New York, which took place in New York from October 11-13. The Global Cleantech 100 is organized by the Cleantech Group in association with the Guardian Media Group. The selection process was conducted through nominations, Cleantech Group research, and a panel of industry experts.
